CIRCA.: Tell us a little about yourself.

JONATHAN JAY: Born in Baltimore. Raised in Brooklyn Park, Glen Burnie, Pasadena. Educated in Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Providence. Live, write, and edit in Los Angeles.

CIRCA.: Why Los Angeles?

JAY: LA is the future in the sense that it is what it said it was.

CIRCA.: Why Another Sky?

JAY: It’s not so much where I am now as it is where I was and where I am going. It’s about letting the past and the future go.

CIRCA.: In addition to writing, you edit CIRCA. Can you explain the idea behind it?

JAY: CIRCA. seeks to connect all artists of all genres either in or passing through LA. That is and isn’t possible. It is in that all of the artists featured are connected in that moment, in that edition. It isn’t in the sense that we have yet to establish a community and a dialogue---which was a part of the original mission. Then again, much of what LA is is a fleeting community and a fleeting dialogue. So we have been and will be a great success.

CIRCA.: What about your blog: JAYSCRUB/SCRUBJAY?

JAY: The idea is to connect---as is probably the idea with every other blog out there! So much happens in a week that it is hard for a writer writing something long term to connect with the moment. And that is why I have bought into the concept. I want to share momentary insights, instead of letting them go. Too much has been let go…

CIRCA.: What if you could be asked any question in an interview? What would it be and what would be your answer?
